Strike Up the Band!
Ron Dippolito sent in these great pics from his time on the hill in 1955 and 1956. Ron played in the band and mentioned that one time they even got to play in Paris when the 72d took on the Air Force in football. Thanks Ron!

Special Services!
If you had a special talent whether playing an instrument.basketball or skiing army wanted you.I remem- ber some of the guys were spending quite a bit of their time at the gym practicing basketball.I guess having a good basketball team was important.Also,I don't believe if skiing for the army would go under the special services but I just wanted to mention it.Can you imagine being on ski patrol(believe army had ski patrol unit) at Garmisch- Partenkirchen.Coming down the slope (Zugspitze)to snuggle next to a fireplace.If a band was playing at Peden I would be marching right behind them.For ex.,"caisson go rolling along". There is nothing like military music.
